So I gave up, formatted the vhdx and installed from scratch. Update: I tried reinstalling Win 10 using Hyper-V on the vhdx and I still could not update (0x80070003). I'm going to re-do the "repair" (make a different selection in that menu), then report back again when I can. Perhaps this "block"Īnyways, I have a feeling I might have made some missteps in attaching my vhdx to a virtual machine in Hyper-V (there's a need to "repair" the installation so that it can boot in Hyper-V instead of direct boot menu - more here: ![]() I gave this some thought and I think the difference is that when using a client like Hyper-V, the client is there to handle some stuff external to the machine like expansion of the virtual disk (in the case of dynamic vhd/vhdx).
